Roof Coatings to Extend the Life of Your Roof
If your roofing system is nearing the end of its life but you are not yet ready to invest in a new system, you may be able to opt for a roof coating. A roof coating is a rubber-like material that’s applied over your existing roofing system to protect it from damage, seal out water and add years to the life of your roof. Traditionally used in commercial settings, roof coatings can be applied to residential roofs in some cases.
When Is a Roof Coating a Good Idea?
A roof coating may be a worthy investment if you have a roof that’s nearing the end of its life but is otherwise in good shape. Making minor repairs before applying a roof coating is often necessary, but if you need major repairs, it may be worth it to invest in a new roofing system. We can discuss all this and more with you during your consultation with us.
Roof coatings are designed primarily for flat roofing materials, not pitched roofs. They benefit roofs that are in good condition and homeowners that want to reduce the natural aging process of their roof.
What Happens During a Coating Application?
Before Coleman Roofing can apply your roof coating, we will complete any necessary repairs or maintenance to your roofing system to ensure it continues to perform well after the roof coating is complete. Next, we will thoroughly clean your roof of debris to prepare for the coating and facilitate proper bonding of the coating material to your roof.
Finally, we apply the primer and then the coating, which can take more than one application to fully seal and protect your roof. We will let you know what to expect prior to performing any work on your property.
